Put Baldur's Gate 3 on an SSD and save

Even though the game is just over 100 GB, the loading times are very long. If you plan to spend some time on the game, take the time before making room on your SSD to save yourself hours of waiting for the game to load! Also, in BG3 you can easily inadvertently upset an entire camp by picking up an apple, which will end your adventure. Remember to save often, the game is already long without having to start over.

Place your characters at a distance in height

Standing high will give you an advantage, so you'll keep the better of the two dice rolls. Always try to place your characters at a distance and in height and conversely avoid being below. Additionally, enemies attacking your characters from a distance from above will have the negative effect below. Before a fight, ungroup your characters to place yourself!

Do not equip armor without proficiency

Equipping armor without mastering it will give you a disadvantage on your dice rolls, i.e. you will roll two dice and take the lower of the two rolls. If you roll a 5 and a 14, you'll roll a 5. So it's very rarely profitable, even to use a powerful piece of armor. Conversely, equipping an unmastered weapon does not bring any penalty but will not have the mastery bonus.

Threaten your enemies and avoid being threatened

You threaten an enemy by standing next to it, even if an enemy stands next to one of your characters. Being threatened puts all your ranged spells at disadvantage, and if you move, you will suffer an attack of opportunity. You can thus significantly reduce the power of an enemy archer or mage, while inflicting damage if he moves. Generally speaking, you want to threaten with your melee characters and avoid being threatened with a ranged character.

There is always something to do at your level

One of the difficulties of Baldur's Gate 3, especially if you are not used to this type of game, is to find activities to do at your level. When you see that the fight is too difficult, drop it and go explore the map, you will inevitably have several activities offered to you. You can also go back a little, for example to attack a goblin outpost that you decided to leave alive in order to gain experience. Also remember to look at your map, where you will have all the quests available.

don't kill everyone

One of the strengths of the game is your freedom of decision, if the person who does a quest does not please you, you can decide to kill him. This will most likely irritate those around you, and in addition to missing out on a good part of the game's story, it will also make it more difficult. Keep in mind that the majority of your decisions will have consequences!

Add Implicit Dice Bonuses

During your dice roll attempts, such as unlocking a door, you will be able to take advantage of your allies' buffs. These don't activate directly, but can cause a dice roll to pass, don't forget them!

The first choices are the simplest, but not necessarily the right ones

The game is made so that if you always press the first choice during a dialogue, nothing bad will happen to you. However, you will miss important decisions or dialogues related to your class. If you clicked by mistake, it will rarely be possible to go back on your choice, so remember to save often!

Do not limit yourself to imposed classes

Baldur's Gate 3 story characters are with a defined class, like Gayle for the mage. However, you can change its class at the camp near Withered and thus choose the one that interests you. You can also change the subclass, characteristics, etc. The only limit being that you cannot change races.

Undo Bad Level Takes

Developing your character well is not easy. In addition to the amount of information to take into account, your level 8 character may not be the idea of what you wanted to do at level 3. To avoid a character that is too weak or poorly built, you can very simply go back with Withered to camp. In addition to changing class, you return to level 1 but keep all your experience. You will be able to directly restore all the levels to your character with the right choices, for only 100 gold.
