The Crackpet Show launches in December 2021 in Early Access, featuring a Happy Tree Friends-style design and foursome in co-op! The test !
Gameplay and interest
The Crackpet Show is a shooter with a single joystick and automatic aim. That is to say that you will be able to move around, in particular to dodge, but as soon as you approach the enemies, you will automatically target them. A rather particular choice for this type of game, which usually orientates itself more with a left joystick aim or the famous "twin stick shooter" on which you move with the left joystick and aim with the right. A choice that will however allow easier access to control your character, even if the game has a good difficulty. Rooms and enemies are ok for early access, but they aren't very many or diverse. Note all the same that those present are rather well designated and that the bosses are quite cool!
You can dash, dodge traps, use item, and use weapons that shoot over obstacles. However, having played many games of this type, I had a lot of trouble hanging onto the gameplay which I find too soft, and the automatic aim which really handicaps. To see the direction for the rest, but after a few runs the weariness is already too present.
The Crackpet Show offers insufficiently dynamic and repetitive gameplay
Boss gameplay is nice but the rest is too far behind
Content and shelf life
For the rogue-lite side, you currently have 12 levels to complete, these consist of several rooms, where you must choose the next one. It's the same system as Curse of the Dead Gods. The principle is rather pleasant and allows you to repeat the experience during your runs.
At the start of each run, you can choose an item and equipment, corresponding to a class. Being able to improve or unlock new classes later would be great! Currently this is only possible by upgrading weapons and items through the NPC. At the end of each run, you will be able to improve your unlocked equipment, and obtain passive bonuses thanks to the sponsors. So you will have something to take care of before finishing the game!
The real plus is the possibility of playing 4 in cooperation, which is really appreciable!
The Crackpet Show Has Great Content For Early Access
You'll have plenty to do before you complete Early Access
Global design
From the outset you will be put in the mood for The Crackpet Show, the design is very well worked and it is a pleasure to explode your enemies in a tide of blood! Everything is neat and well seen, it's almost perfect if they changed their elevator music which loops throughout the run (and which can quickly get you back!). It's a shame, however, to have so much similarity to Curse of the Dead Gods.
A very beautiful design if we forget the music
The very nice design of the game
The similarities with Curse of the Dead Gods, note that I did not take this into account in my note:
Four weapon choices for both games
The very similar run system
Value for money and economic model
This game is offered for 15 € on Steam, in early access and it is honestly a very good price considering its contents, especially if you use the functions of Remote Play or local co-op! Note that there is no online server, however.
A really affordable price to have a good time
Assessment and final mark

The design of the game Lots of content for early access Being able to play four |
Too soft gameplay |
For early access, The Crackpet Show offers a very good version of its game. There are a lot of things to do and you can spend a lot of time there! The design is well thought out, the gameplay however remains too far behind. In any case, if you are looking for a game that can be played by several people, do not hesitate to take it and it is really in this case that I recommend it! You can also follow it if you want to wait for its full release!
I rated The Crackpet Show 3.5 / 5
