What is Neon Echo?

Neon Echo, a super cute and addictive side-scrolling platformer roguelite that just hit Steam Early Access. It already counts nearly 2000 very positive evaluations which are amply deserved and which we make you discover!

Gameplay

Your adventure takes place in a world defiled by an evil force nicknamed "the Noise" which corrupts the beings with which it comes into contact, even turning them into monsters. The inhabitants discover that electronic music offers resistance to this transformation and can also restore the sanity of the infected. You will therefore be the skin of a group of exceptional teenagers who will embark on a perilous adventure to overcome noise and restore peace, thanks to the power of electronic music.

The games will be rich in discoveries and experimentation, with an 8-key combat system. On the keyboard, you have 4 keys to move and 4 to fight. The fights are nervous, fast and demanding. Following the rhythm of the music allows you to activate a powerful variant of a special skill at the right time, while dodging an attack in extremis leads to a strategic counter. You can also activate the Neonization mode to activate a unique behavior, and your ultimate power offers you devastating power. Finally, the bosses are stylized, rich in patterns and in the combat phase, offering a sizeable challenge!

Depth

Neon Echo already offers you highly replayable content. You will not easily cross the first 3 chapters offered, all generated from a combination of more than 400 different levels and monsters. You will be able to choose from 3 characters, each with their own unique skills and talents, whose gameplay will radically change the way you play. Each of your games will be unique due to the environments crossed, the challenges met, the consumables collected and the skills offered at the end of each level.

The customization and optimization of your character are very well done, on the one hand before your game thanks to a range of evolution systems, but also by the skills and boosts that you will find throughout the levels. During your games, you will join "safe areas" allowing you to spend your coins on various consumables. You will also come across NPCs allowing you to customize your fighting style by exchanging your skills, adding modifiers, activating passive objects or choosing bonuses.

You'll have a bewildering amount of superpowered combinations and reactions that depend only on your choices!

Design

Electronic music takes a particularly important place in the proposed experience. The lighting effects are sublime, the characters have a neat manga/animated style and the enemies have a very "Mecha" design, just like the rest of the particularly elaborate environment. To fully enjoy the game, don't hesitate to use headphones to fully immerse yourself and fully feel the intensity of the fights through the music!
