Description

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Scourge is a Muso-type video game developed by Koei Tecmo and Omega Force exclusively for Switch. You play as several commanders such as Link, Zelda or Impa to defeat the forces of Ganondorf, in a story taking place 100 years with Breath of the Wild.

How the game works

The map is from Breath of the Wild from 100 years ago. You can choose the battle to be fought among those offered by the game, but also unlock craft merchants or improve your weapons at the blacksmith by merging them, allowing them to hit harder or have additional powers.

You will also have side missions playable in solo, with a timer to complete them and of course with loot! These rewards will allow you to craft dishes, in order to either buff your attacks or debuff enemy attacks. The different recipes will be unlockable by providing the components to the kitchen icons on the map.

You will also be able to improve your commanders thanks to the workshops allowing to increase your number of hearts or the number of possible combos. They will therefore be crucial to achieve. Each time you do these objectives, the region's reputation level will increase giving you further buffs!

For each mission, you can choose the level of difficulty, easy, normal, hard or heroic; Heroic being a late game mode where you can start your missions again after completing them all. You can also choose your weapon and outfit (currently only for Link). A downside because these customizations unfortunately remain very limited to this day.

Combat system

You can order your commanders to go to any location you want with enemy forts in red and allies in blue. Bosses are represented by chopsticks, and once defeated you can use their item!

The combos are varied and very pleasant to play, whether on the ground or in the air. They are unique to each character and totally different. The game is fluid during all its combos, regardless of the number of enemies, on the other hand the graphics are a little below what the switch can offer.

If you are good at execution, you can quickly take down bosses with well timed dodge and perfectly executed combos!

Death will not be final but will make you start over automatically a little earlier. It is for example not possible to resuscitate / heal a commander with another. So try to avoid dying!

If you want to know all the commanders' combos, you have them in our Link, Zelda, Impa character guide !

Alchemists SlashingCreeps

The Era of the Scourge seems to be a very good Muso, because of its design, its possibilities of commander and all the side missions offered by the game. It is aimed at both fans of the muso style and Breath of the players. Wild who loves the universe and who want to type mobs! It only remains to see what the game offers as you go to avoid a certain redundant Muso style.

Note that it is absolutely not necessary to have played a Hyrule warrior or Breath of the Wild to play the Age of the Scourge, on the other hand if necessary do not hesitate to take a look at world history on wikipedia !

Promising!
