The Barbarians of the Badlands is the latest name to surface in the Elden Ring community. Does this mean players will be getting new Elden Ring runes soon?

You’d think that any news about an Elden Ring DLC would make fans happy, but they were quick to dismiss it.

Tons of vital information is now in the hands of hackers as Bandai Namco Entertainment has been hit with a ransomware attack by a group known as ALPHV. Bandai Namco has yet to confirm or deny this, but it sounds like the same circumstances that happened to Capcom years ago, resulting in Dragon’s Dogma 2 leaking online before they made the grand reveal. For Bandai’s case, an image currently circulating on social media has seemingly leaked the title (and release date) for FromSoftware’s DLC for Elden Ring. Additionally, titles such as Armored Core, Little Nightmares III, and Dragonball The Breakers are part of the game names shown in the picture.

Is this all too good to be true? Boy, are we ready to see some new Elden Ring weapons if it is true?

Bandai Namco’s Plans for 2023 Allegedly

While the image should be taken with a grain of salt, the post that’s going viral on social media apps such as Twitter includes Bandai Namco’s “plans” for 2023, including the following:

Q1 2023 Q2 2023 Q3 2023 Q4 2023
Dragon Ball The Breakers

Armored Core

Digimon Story Cybersleuth 2

Little Nightmares 3

Dragon Ball Fighter Z Super

Tekken 8

Tales of Ascension

Elden Ring: Barbarians of the Badlands

Dragonball Xenoverse 3

Code Vein 2

One Punch Man Fighters Association

If this leak is to be believed, then the Tarnished will soon be traversing out of Lands Between and into the Badlands just beyond the fog. Players will presumably go to the Badlands after the conclusion of the storyline in The Lands Between, but then we know for a fact that there are multiple endings you can unlock in Elden Ring.

An Elden Ring DLC has long been speculated on the interwebs, with players scouring around the map to look for clues and Elden Ring armor and weapons. Naturally, people would love this leak to be the real deal. Even guesses have pointed towards a closed-off coliseum in the game considered reserved for the DLC as an arena.

In Elden Ring’s lore, the coliseum is associated with the Duelists, enemies that are huge—and shirtless— humanoids who attack with no fear using these mighty axes. To be honest, they’d fit the “Barbarians” theme of the DLC. But if it’s not them, then the title could also be a reference to Caelid. It’s that red, barren area you come across, and it certainly looks like it could be the “Badlands.”

Gamers Claim That the Leak is A Fake

Nothing on the list is a guarantee, but Elden Ring fans are quick to claim that this “leak” is most likely a dud. For starters, the Tekken 8 looks sketchy right off the bat—that’s because it was taken from a fan-made video posted a few days before the release of the leak. Another thing is that the next Digimon game after Survive was already confirmed to be a story-driven game unrelated to Cybersleuth. And to put the nail on this fake coffin, if you look at the Dragon Ball FighterZ Super logo, it’s apparent that it was an edit of the two already existing titles: Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Super.

Several of the titles have piqued our curiosity, though. Armored Core is one of those franchises that hasn’t been in the spotlight for a long time. It’s possible to see a new Armored Core game for 2023, but a release in Q2023 3 would be premature. If there’s one game, we can at least think would come next year, it would have to be Dragon Ball Xenoverse XNUMX, as it was already mentioned in previous leaks and rumors.

What Players Think Will Be in Elden Ring’s DLC

One of the main things players expect to be in Elden Ring’s DLC is a PvP arena. If you’ve ever taken a gander at some of the constructions in The Lands Between, you’ll see arena-like coliseums called Structures located in Leyndell, Limgrave, and Caelid. These structures are impenetrable for now, but modders have found a way to break through the code and found stadium portions. Most players believe we’ll soon see these transform into PvP arenas for the unconfirmed DLC. If it’s not to be PvP-based, then you can use these areas for a survival mode or boss battles, where they’d arrive and be slain by the player one at a time.

Video game leaks are rampant these days—some become true, while others remain to be seen. What’s important is that you take these rumors with a grain of salt. While confirmation from FromSoftware for a possible DLC is still ways off, at least there are still lots of secrets and Elden Ring Runes to discover in the base game.
