UPDATE OCTOBER 4, 2022

Following Blizzard's very recent patch, a few hours after the publication of this guide, here is the information:

  • "Conviction and Lower Resist effectiveness will be 1/5 effective even after a Sundering Charm's applied effects. (This change will go into effect on October 6 ounce Ladder Season Two begins)." That is to say that Conviction and Lesser Resistance will have a 20% effect on monsters where you have removed immunity with a charm

In effect, any monster that loses its immunity:

  • under Conviction (level 25 and above) will be at 65% resistance to the element
  • under Lesser Resistance (level 26 and above) will be at 82% resistance to the element

For calculation, the charm brings the enemy to 95% resistance

  • Conviction: -150% x 1/5 = -30% or 65%
  • Lower Resistance: -65% x 1/5 = -13% or 82%

So, even if it remains interesting for the Paladin Conviction, it is much less so for the Necromancer Poison!

How to benefit from immunity charms?

There are two crucial principles for maximizing the effect of charms:

  • removing immunity is applied before resistance reductions
  • you also have to avoid being a chip
  • a build as effective to start as farming in endgame

The proposed builds will therefore use this principle, do not forget that the traps and invocations apply the effect of the charm. For each elemental charm, remember to put resistance charms to compensate!
