Diablo 4 will be released in June 2023 on pc and consoles by offering a Hack and Slash and MMORPG mix, but does it live up to expectations?

Gameplay

To start this test, let's talk about the gameplay of Diablo 4. You will find Blizzard's know-how, efficient, readable and quick to learn gameplay. However, the gameplay remains a little softer than the other games in the series, with sometimes long stretches to go through and basic monsters that lack interest. Diablo 4 brings a very deep game on several aspects:

• the global content of the map, with its quests, NPCs, world bosses, strongholds, events, explorations, PvP... It's simply by far the biggest content ever created on Diablo
• classes have a complete and complex system, without losing new players. Whether through the skill tree, specializations, legendary powers or the paragon. The only downside is having only two choices for the passives of a skill
• the endgame system is well in place, with dungeons and paragons

Global design

For this opus, Blizzard is very strong. You find the graphic paste of Diablo 2 Resurrected, with very clean spells and animations whether you are alone or in a group. The music is charged with emotion, especially as soon as you arrive in the first city. On the cinematic side, in addition to the epic cinematics, Diablo 4 uses the "in-game" cinematic system, that is to say where your character is directly integrated into it. Finally, Diablo 4 revives the gore of the first and second game, prepare for bloodshed!

Without being pay to win, Diablo 4's economic model remains very aggressive and will repeatedly offer you to take out your wallet:

• for the pack of physical goodies (without the game) 110€

• for in-game cosmetic purchases, for your characters and mounts
• for future extensions probably paid
