Naoki Yoshida and Square Enix recently opened up about the support they’re planning to give Final Fantasy XIV during a live stream.

We have good news for Final Fantasy XIV fans! Square Enix announced in their latest Production LIVE Part LXVIII stream letter (yes, there have been many) that the MMO will be covered for the next ten years! During this stream, producer and director Naoki Yoshida talked about long term support for the game which includes many additions to Final Fantasy XIV Online. The goals being to keep the game alive, kicking and evolving into even more unique experiences that fans know and love. This includes, among other things, improved graphics! They therefore want to keep FF14 in place for all those who like to farm them. FFXIV Gil and play the legendary game.

When is the Release of Patch 6.1?

Patch 6.1 for Final Fantasy XIV is due in April. Arguably, the main highlight of this patch is the revision of the Trust System. The Trust System, which currently allows players to tackle select main scenario dungeons with a party of NPCs, will be further expanded upon. This feature allows players to enjoy the story and farm FFXIV Gil at their own pace without needing to seek help from a party. For now, players can take on select Shadowbringers and Endwalker main scenario dungeons, with Patch 6.1 scheduled to add A Realm Reborn primary scenario dungeons to the list.

Patch 6.1 also features a new main storyline, Tataru's Grand Endeavor, and a series of side quests, Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures. For future updates, here is the upcoming content:

  • Ultima’s Bain (Unreal)
  • Crystalline Conflict (New PvP)
  • Arkasodara Tribe Quests and Dailies
  • Myths of the Realm #1 (Alliance Raid)
  • Dragonsong’s Reprise (New Ultimate Duty)
  • Custom Deliveries: Ameliance
  • New Calling Card-Style UI (Name TBD)
  • New Hairstyles for Hrothgar
  • Empyreum (Ishgard Housing)

The Game Plan for Future Patches

Yoshida also revealed a small roadmap of newly planned content for the other series of patches leading to 6.5, which includes the post-Zodiark and Hydaelyn saga content.

Patch 6.2 will further increase the scope of Trust Support, adding all of the important scenario dungeons from Heavensward and A Realm Reborn. There will be additional weapons, a new compass, Pandaemonium, Faux Hollows, Island Sanctuary Debuts, and other trials. Players can also adjust the difficulty once this patch rolls out.

For Patch 6.3, the remaining dungeons of the Haevensward Site will be added to Trust Support, with this expansion adding King's Edition 3 and 5. You also have the following additions:

  • Ultimate Duty #5
  • Island Sanctuary Updates
  • Deep Dungeon Series #3
  • More trials such as the Myths of the Realm

And lastly, as for Patch 6.4 and 6.5, the content for these versions is not yet finalized, but here are the tentative releases for it:

  • The Conclusion of Pandaemonium Pandaemonium
  • Additional Area for Island Sanctuary
  • More Content for Myths of the Realm, Faux Hollow, and the other trials
  • Criterion Dungeons #2 and #3
  • Trust System for Stormblood Main Scenario Dungeons

What to Expect for the Next Expansion

Although Square Enix and Yoshida did not discuss content, they did indicate that graphical improvements would be part of these upcoming updates. This improvement concerned the world, characters, materials, lights and shadows, as well as better resolution textures.

If you’re a new player that’s itching to know more about the world of Final Fantasy XIV and possibly play the next big thing after Endwalker, the Free Trial is available once again for newcomers. The trial includes all content from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and all of the content updates up to Patch 3.56. The Au Ra will be a playable race too, along with three extra jobs (Machinist, Dark Knight, and Astrologian); these can all be played without a time limit.

What is PlayerAuctions?

PlayerAuctions is a Marketplace system, meaning you can buy or sell items for real money. I haven't personally tested this system, but Trustpilot reviews are good and PlayerAuctions takes the time to respond to all feedback. Be careful to choose only 5-star sellers! Here are the useful links:

You will have a lot of content with these new additions! There is still a lot of unannounced content to discover! To help new players and those looking for a more singleplayer oriented experience, Square Enix decided to add several low level scenarios so that they are more easily accessible. We can't wait to see the next improvements and updates to the MMO, but in the meantime veterans of the game can farm Gil FF14 via the quests and trials that are already available! Let us know what you think of these updates in the comments!
